SEPTEMBER JOINT EVENT

Our NAWBO New Orleans Chapter, in partnership with Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses and the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, co-hosted the fabulous 2016 Women's Business Alliance Seminar at Café Reconcile on Tuesday evening, September 13th.  We had a packed house as both members and guests of NAWBO and the Chamber were also joined by cohort members and alumni of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. They were all drawn by
the fabulous panel discussing the topic "New Orleans - Where Culture Means Business". There was an illustrious group of female Culture Entrepreneurs on the panel. And if you've never heard the term "cultural entrepreneur" before, New Orleans actually has a thriving cultural economy and defines cultural entrepreneurs as "cultural change agents and resourceful visionaries who organize cultural, financial, social and human capital, to generate revenue from a cultural activity".

Our NAWBO President, Dee Clubb welcomed the group and turned over the
moderation to Goldman Sach's  Klassi Duncan, who introduced the panel:

Diane Lyons - President/Owner of  ACCENT - DMC, Inc.,
Sharon Maher - Owner/Manager - Louisiana Sisters, LLC.
Jan Ramsey - Publisher, Offbeat Media
Catherine Todd - Co-founder, Creative Director - Where Y'Art,

Each panel member had the opportunity to talk about how they got started, the challenges they faced, and offered advice to the women in our audience.

This is the type of programming we seek to provide for our NAWBO-NOLA members.  We hope you will join us for our next fun-filled and informative event. Stay tuned for more details!
